Report by DIANESMITH
BRITISHAirways Holidays has launched a new weekly charter into Luxor after strong sales in its Worldwide 2001 brochure. The weekly service using Air 2000 departs from Gatwick on Mondays.
The operator has seen a 400% increase in bookings to Egypt in the last year.
BAH commercial manager Katherine Daniel said it may also link up with British Mediterranean Airways to Luxor if the strong sales continue. The operator has axed holidays to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
BAH has introduced Brazil and Argentina, predominantly featuring city tours with add-ons. The Philippines is also new for next year.
A new Prestige Collection has been launched offering five-star comforts such as private airport transfers, airport lounge facilities and upmarket hotels. BAH expects further growth in the Far East and could make the options modular as they already are for South Africa and India.
The brochure has been launched early in response to the early long-haul launches last year.
n BAH has introduced hurricane protection on Caribbean holidays booked during the hurricane season. It offers clients 10% of their holiday cost in vouchers to be used against future BAH holidays if their trip is disrupted. The operator already tracks storm activity and offers the option to return to the UK or transfer to another holiday of equal value if affected by a hurricane.
