Flight was too hot to handle

I WAS due to return to London on June 15 on Virgin Atlantic’s new service and imagine my surprise when an announcement was made telling us that the flight would be unable to depart due to the high temperature.

The temperature for the 6.05pm flight was 113F and was too hot for the Boeing 747 to be able to take off in safety. Luckily, most passengers were not exactly disappointed at having to spend an extra night in Las Vegas and returned to their hotels to make the most of this unexpected treat.

However, it does pose the question of how Virgin will solve this problem in the even hotter months of July and August? Did nobody realise how hot it gets in Las Vegas in the summer?

Finally, I would like to say thank you to the Virgin staff who handled the situation so well. Coping with 500 frustrated passengers couldn’t have been easy.
