n new emirates flightsEmirates launches non-stop daily flights from Birmingham to Dubai on December 18. A two-class Airbus A330 seating 285 passengers will operate the service. The new flight will complement existing Emirates routes from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester.
n aer lingus move
Aer Lingus has appointed Michael Foley as group chief executive. He was previously president and chief executive of Heineken USA. Foley takes over from Garry Cullen who left the carrier earlier this year. His main role will be to implement Aer Lingus’ membership of Oneworld and enhance partnerships with British Airways.

UK short-break operator Superbreak has appointed an Internet marketing manager to increase on-line sales. David Ranby has joined the operator from the Best Western marketing department, with responsibility for improving the look of the site and making sure it is on all the relevant portals and search engines.
n anite profits hike
The Anite Group has reported a 29% increase in the pre-tax profit of its travel operations to £2.2m for the year ending April 30 2000. Turnover fell slightly to £23.4m, down from £27.7m in the previous year. The company cited strong demand for itse-commerce services.

Virgin Atlantic is to appoint a third UKconsolidator to target the ethnic market. The move marks the launch of flights between Heathrow and Delhi. The appointment is aimed at securing wider distribution for thetwice-weekly service.
