Dome bosses enlist tradeto boost sales
THE NEW Millennium Experience Company has launched new trade support and regional advertising campaigns after admitting public awareness of domestic travel packages is not high enough.A quarter of the three million people who have visited the Dome have booked through the travel trade. The NMEC is hoping to achieve total visitor numbers of seven million by the end of the year.
Sales and marketing director Sholto Douglas-Home said: “People have not yet quite grasped that there are some fantastic travel deals out there. This is why we are advertising through the regional press.”
Travel trade manager Mark Hayes unveiled the new trade support package, which is worth an estimated £100,000.
Around £250,000 is being spent on regional advertising and £2m has been earmarked for a TV campaign.
Superbreak brand development director Ray Jones welcomed the new package, and praised the efforts of the NMEC’s trade team.
The operator has sold 10,000 Dome inclusive packages to date. However, it no longer expects to achieve bookings of 50,000, as predicted earlier this year (Travel Weekly February 21).
