LIKE most business travel agencies, recruitment is a problem for Going Places.
To tackle the shortage of suitably qualified applicants, White has introduced a training programme for college leavers who have already studied a two-year BTECtravel and tourism course at college.
Candidates spend a year working at a Going Places Business Travel House and study every aspect of the business to National Vocation Qualification level 2.
The course started in July last year and the first 23 students will finish the course this summer.
White wants to expand on this training initiative and is looking at introducing more courses in the future.
He said:”There are simply not enough experienced business travel people in the market place. We have to fill the void by a number of means, one of which is to offer our own courses.
“If students pass the course and they perform well within the business travel centre, then clearly they are in an extremely employable position and we would want to keep them.”
