Open letter to British Airways head of UKand Ireland sales Tiffany Hall
Best laid plan could be just the job for BA
Dear Ms Hall, we are all fully aware of the losses BA is making at the present time and so Ifeel compelled to write to offer you some free advice about how to increase your bottom line.a) How about adding an extension to both yours and the chairman of BA’s houses for the preparation and supplying of food for in-flight catering in your spare time.
b) Get rid of your cabin staff – what a waste. This cost could easily be avoided by giving everyone packed lunches on boarding.
c) There is always extra revenue to be made on the flight. Why not charge for cushions to go on the seats, or for doilies to put the drinks on instead of providing them free.
d) Have you considered that once on the aircraft you have a captive audience? Throw away all of those in-flight videos and offer the slot to a timeshare firm for an in-flight presentation. Alternatively, have the pilot sponsored by Timeshares are us.
e) What about the reservations staff? They could easily take orders for shopping on the client’s return. Obviously there would be a 7% commission from Tesco on all orders taken with this being replaced by a service charge come January 1 2001.
All the above is free advice. For a modest fee of £100,000 Iam sure I could develop a full business programme for you.
