TRX Europe to develop Leicester support base

Report by PENNY RUSSELL

TRX EUROPE, the joint venture between Hogg Robinson and US-based TRX inc, is setting up a support centre in Leicester next month.

The newly formed company, which supplies fulfilment services for on-line booking products, is recruiting around 30 staff but expects to expand this number as its business develops.

The centre is being headed up by Gail Rushby, who was previously BTI UK Hogg Robinson account manager for the Rover inplant at Longbridge in the Midlands.

She will report to TRX managing director Peter Grover, who was previously general manager sales and marketing for Galileo UK.

Grover is currently looking for offices in the Gatwick/Croydon area for the company’s headquarters.

At the moment, he is based in Hogg Robinson’s offices in Farnborough.

Hogg Robinson owns a 20% stake in TRX but Grover said it would be run as a separate entity.

TRX supplies automated fulfilment services for on-line booking systems, including the issuing and despatching of tickets, customer service support, quality control and travel policy checking. It has already been selected to provide this support for British Airways’ new on-line business travel management system, aimed at small to medium-sized companies.

This is due to be launched by the end of this year and has not yet been named.

US-based GetThere.com will provide the booking engine which will link to all of the computer reservation systems.

TRX has also been chosen to handle bookings through Continental Airlines’ Web site, which is currently being tested.

The company hopes to win other contracts to supply fulfilment services to Internet travel sites when is being launched next month.

Grover said it is in talks with a number of other airlines and travel agents interested in taking on the TRX product.
