n airports wait for continental decision


Continental Airlines is believed to have shortlisted Bristol International Airport and Stansted Airport to launch a new scheduled service to New York. The airline will meet both airports on Thursday to discuss the availability of slots, with the first flight expected to be launched next year.


n club travel 2000 appoints loynes


Club Travel 2000 is to develop its relationship with agents following the appointment of public relations consultant Andy Loynes as marketing manager. He will be responsible for creating and implementing marketing and sales support for independent agents.


n edreams agrees deal with worldres europe


EDreams has struck a deal with on-line accommodation specialist WorldRes Europe to use its database of 15,000 hotels. Customers will be able to search for hotels by destination, price, dates, property type and amenities.


n easyjet web site adds accessories


EasyJet has started selling travel accessories on its Web site following a partnership deal with specialist retailer Travelcamel. Visitors can buy goods including suncream, rucksacks and film on-line.


n galileo posts 28.3% fall in pre-tax profits


Galileo International has reported a 28.3% slump in pre-tax profits to $167.4m for the first half of this year. Revenue rose by 7.9% to $866.1m during this period. It claims its income fell due to the expense of acquiring Web subsidiary TRIP.com. Meanwhile, weak booking volumes in the US drove worldwide reservations down 0.7% to 189.1m in the first half of this year. Separate UK figures were unavailable.
