AITO praises legislationSPECIALIST operators will be forced to display their ownership links in a move welcomed by the Association of Independent Tour Operators.
Under the Government order, niche companies as well as mass-market brands must spell out who they are owned by on brochure covers.
It will end the perception among the public that specialist operators are independent of the major companies.
An AITOspokeswoman said: “Many of the brochures still look as though they’re independent even when operators have been bought by the vertically integrated groups.
“This is a very good move to let the public know who they are owned by.”
She added the Consumers’ Association has been probing the issue of specialist operators not displaying their ownership links.
