Delta’s new performance menus go down well with passengers

CORPORATE travellers have given the thumbs up to a new range of performance enhancement food which has been introduced on Delta Air Line’s business service.

The airline introduced a new menu as part of a relaunch of its Business Elite service last year after conducting passenger and scientific research to find out what passengers need.

The research showed that a performance-based menu best suited the hectic lifestyle and health demands of the international business traveller and as a result Delta developed a new menu, called Ideal Performance Meals.

The menus have been specially designed to help passengers achieve their peak performance, balancing their diet and sleeping habits.

Delta sales manager Paul Maine said business passengers’ reaction has been positive.

He said:”Some passengers have a meeting when they first arrive at their destination and need to sleep on board in order to be prepared for the meeting.

“Others need to maximise their time on the flight to be productive. The menu is easy to follow and helps the passenger pick a meal which best suits his or her needs.

“For example, passengers can opt for a meal which gives lots of energy to enable them to work on the flight, or can choose one which helps them rest and relax on the flight while providing energy when they step off the aircraft.

“Each food item or menu item is marked with an indication on how it will affect energy levels.”

Meanwhile, business travellers are to benefit from an increased range of services when Delta introduces Boeing 777s on its daily Manchester-Atlanta and its second daily Gatwick-Atlanta routes.

Currently the service operates on older-style MD11 aircraft.

Maine said the Boeing 777s are newer, more comfortable and have a better range of in-flight entertainment.

The added bonus for business travellers is that the seating is in a 2-2-2 configuration, instead of the 2-3-2 MD11 configuration.
