Advice for people wishing to develop a career in travel: “It sounds glamourous but it can feel exactly the opposite. Remember to wake up and smell the roses because although you’ll be really busy, you must empathise with the travel experience from the consumer’s point of view. The traveller wants you to create a trouble-free time warp away from the stress of daily life, so always be on the lookout for potential letdowns in your product. Fix them properly because we’re collectively responsible for the good name of the industry.”
