NORTHWEST agents proved you don’t have to be loaded to have a great time when they celebrated their 50th birthday. Travel Weekly readers may remember Barrie Harthern of Astley Bridge Travel in Bolton was not impressed when asked to fork out £160 to go to ABTA’s official 50th anniversary bash in London and organised an alternative shindig for northern agents at £30 a head. Barrie is pictured next to the steam train that took agents from Bury to Rawtenstall on an evening which included afive-course meal, drinks, a comedian and a jazz band. Sounds like great value to us.
