Deal allows PATAmembers to get on-line

Report by TERESA MACHAN

PACIFIC Asia Travel Association members will now have access to a global Internet travel reservation engine offering more than 60,000 products, following a deal between PATA and Asiatravelmart.com.

The award-winning travel reservation system provides a platform for travel buyers and sellers around the world to trade products and services.

It provides a one-stop travel shop for hotel rooms, flight tickets, tour packages, transfers, meals, car rentals, insurance and other travel products, sourced from more than 3,000 travel suppliers in over 100 countries.

As well as gaining access to the reservation system, PATA users can benefit from Web distribution and technical training and assistance.

PATA chief executive officer Joseph McInerny said: “Many PATA members have told us they are seeking e-commerce resources and technical expertise. With the assistance of Asiatravelmart.com, PATA members with existing sites, as well as those entering the arena, will be able to compete in the world of e-commerce.”

For brand loyalty purposes, the look and feel of the engine can be seamlessly integrated into PATA members’ own branded user interface and members who sign up will be able to earn as much as 5% commission from all transactions made through the site, as well as adding value to existing sites.

PATA and Asiatravelmart.com aim to promote and support the joint initiative through workshops, on-line information and printed material.
