Hebridean Island Cruises buys new ship
Report by KIRSTENBOWLING
HEBRIDEANIsland Cruises has acquired a new ship, Hebridean Spirit.
The 78-passenger vessel, which was built in 1991, will begin operations with the company in July next year.
Managing director Michael Fenton said:”We are currently refurbishing the ship to look about 30 years older than it actually is.”
It is hoped the new vessel, which will reflect the standards and ambience of sister ship Hebridean Princess.
Hebridean Spirit will be decorated in a classical style with each cabin individually decorated.
The ship will also sail to new locations, not as yet explored by Hebridean Island Cruises. The summer itinerary will include the coastlines of Norway, Sweden and the Baltic – including Finland and St Petersburg.
In the autumn, Hebridean Spirit will call at the Greek Dodecanese and Cycladese islands as well as the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, including ports of call at Kerala in India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
Fenton said: “Our guests have been asking us if we could provide something a bit more adventurous, so we have.
“Our research shows us that there is a strong demand for the kind of service we already offer on Hebridean Princess and that our existing clients are keen to visit new destinations with us.
“Next year, our latest vessel will carry on the Hebridean concept into several new territories,” he added.
