What more can ABTA do to attract agents?

WITH just four days to go to the ABTA convention in Kos, there are plenty of people griping about the event.

The usual criticisms about the destination and lack of agents have resurfaced.

Some are even calling for the return of the domestic convention.

When the dust has settled, there certainly needs to be some serious brainstorming about the choice of venue and how to get more agents to attend.

If the line-up this year can’t pull in the punters, then what will?

Last year in Cairns I thought the conference was dire.

But this year, the line-up of speakers looks, on paper, to be better than any convention I’ve ever attended.

There’s focus on the consumer, e-commerce and the future of retailing, with top people from inside and outside the industry.

However it turns out, ABTA deserves a pat on the back for the speakers it has lined up and I’m looking forward to the sessions far more than last year.

If you are an agent staying at home, perhaps you can tell us why. Is it too long out of the office or is it too expensive? Perhaps you are just tired of what the industry leaders are saying.
