Thomas Cook backs dot coms
THOMAS Cook has pledged to work with Internet sites, but only those which add value to its business.
Speaking at a conference session entitled ‘Where do agents go from here?,’ Thomas Cook UK and Ireland chief operating officer Simon Vincent, said: “We’re not shy about working with dot coms, we’re just choosy, particularly with auction sites that discount holidays to one pound, because that is doing nothing for the brand.
“We anticipate more flight-only and hotels being sold on the Internet but we are seeing package holidays sold on JMC’s and Thomas Cook’s site.”
Vincent refused to reveal booking figures, but added: “Thomas Cook.com is now doing more business than the biggest shop in our network.”
