Belfast – Heysham ferry service to resume

Report by John Lavabre

SEA Containers Irish Sea Operations, operators of the SeaCat
and SuperSeaCat fast ferry services across the Irish Sea, has announced its Belfast
– Heysham operations will resume on March 29 2001.

The service, which always ceases over the winter period, was
suspended in October three weeks ahead of schedule so technical work could be
done to the SuperSeaCat.

A spokesman for SCISO said the work would be completed in
time for the March 29 launch.

Services between Troon, in Scotland, and Belfast will resume
on January 9 2001, and between Liverpool and Dublin on March 1 2001. Both these
operations also cease over the winter.
