Report by John Lavabre
OPERATIONS at Heathrow have returned to normal following the
removal of a Boeing 747 which was stuck in mud off the northern runway.
The aircraft was removed yesterday morning but the knock-on
effects caused a number of delays and cancellations.
The British Airways aircraft, travelling from Boston, got
stuck as it landed on Monday evening forcing the runway to close. Initial
attempts to move the jet were thwarted because of poor weather conditions.
No one was hurt in the incident. A spokeswoman for BA said the
Air Accidents Investigations Board had been informed and would be
investigating.
