Report by Tanya Jefferies
TRAVELCARE is to take over the management of Yorkshire
Co-operatives’ 20-strong Sunwin Travel chain from mid-March.
Under the terms of the five-year deal, Travelcare will be
paid a management fee for running the shops while Yorkshire Co-operatives will
retain ownership and profits.
All the Sunwin outlets will be rebranded under the
Travelcare name and the 115 existing shop staff will be kept and retained.
Five senior managers have been offered jobs by Travelcare
and are considering whether to take them, while six administrative staff are
being redeployed elsewhere within the Yorkshire Co-operatives organisation.
Sunwin’s headquarters in Bradford are likely to close.
