Cresta blames violence for dropping Jerusalem

CRESTA has blamed violent clashes in Israel for its
decision to axe Jerusalem from its second-edition Cities brochure.

The brochure also features Las Vegas for the first
time, introduced following a steady increase in demand for short-breaks to the
US casino capital.

Cities brand manager Ian Ackland explained: “Las Vegas
is already featured in our stand-alone North American Cities brochure and
increasing demand for the destination has warranted its inclusion in the main
short-breaks programme. We had been keeping an eye on Jerusalem for a few years
and thought 2001 was the time to introduce it, but unfortunately we were proved
wrong.”

Ackland says Cresta’s city-breaks business is
currently 25% up on the same time last year, with Paris, Amsterdam, Budapest
and St Petersburg proving popular destinations.

The brochure features 117 global cities with lead-in
prices of £115 for three nights in Paris via Eurostar.
