Carrier objects to BA’s buyout
EASTERN Airways has called for British Airways’ proposed buyout of British Regional Airlines Group to be referred to the Competition Commission.
The Humberside Airport-based airline has written to the UK director-general of Fair Trading calling the move “anti-competitive”.
Eastern Airways, Gill Air and ScotAirways have already lodged a formal complaint against British Airways’ £78 million bid (Travel Weekly March 19).
They are concerned that domestic competition willbe severely reduced if the acquisition is permitted to go ahead.
BA also owns Brymon Airways and CityFlyer.
