* burton joins thistle
Holidayexpert.com chief executive William Burton is to join Thistle Hotels as sales and marketing director. Burton, former Thomson sales and distribution director, takes on the new role this month.
* service fee helpline
ABTA has set up a helpline for agents who want advice on whether or not to charge VAT on service fees in the light of British Airways’ new remuneration policy. The helpline number is 020-7303 7988.
* delays a priority
The Airline Group has said it will address the problem of airline delays as a priority after successfully paying £800 million for 46% of the National Air Traffic Services. The group is made up of Airtours International, British Airways, Britannia Airways, bmi british midland, EasyJet, Monarch Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.
* anz expects losses
Air New Zealand has said it expects to record an operating loss in the year to June 30 2001. ANZ, which recorded a pre-tax loss of £337,000 in its first half results, is struggling against difficult trading and market conditions in Australasia.

Ebookers has acquired Swedish on-line agency MrJet.com in a deal worth around £1 million.
* disney job losses
The Walt Disney Company has not ruled out UK job losses as part of plans to cut its worldwide workforce of 120,000 by 4,000 by July. Meanwhile, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is searching for a marketing director to oversee its US resorts and cruiseline across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
