Where: the main tourist centres include the Bernese Oberland, Lake Lucerne, Graubunden and Ticino.

Ambience:heavy on the Alpine charm. Landlocked on all sides, Switzerland’s regions resemble the country whose border is nearest.

Wild activities: there is plenty of opportunity for high-altitude walking. Peaks such as the Jungfrau and the Eiger can be accessed from Interlaken, Wengen and Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland.
