Travellers warned about baby foods

TRAVELLERS going to France have been warned some baby foods
are not allowed into the country because of foot and mouth regulations.

A spokeswoman for the French Government Tourist Office,
Maison de la France, said: “The only thing people have to be aware of with
regard to baby foods is yoghurt based puddings. You can take normal baby foods
into the country.”

There has been confusion amongst some French officials over
what milk-based products are covered by foot and mouth measures, which ban the
exporting of some foods. Most confusion has surrounded powdered baby milk,
although the latest guidelines from the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and
Food state this can be taken abroad.

A spokesman for the Association of British Tour Operators to
France said it is advising travellers to follow MAFF advice.
