THE AVERAGE adult holidaymaker spends £766 a year while abroad
on their summer break, a new study has revealed.
The research, carried out on behalf of Thomas Cook by market
research company Roper Sarch, found 34% of this money is taken as cash, 26% as travellers
cheques while 24% is spent on plastic. A further 9% is withdrawn from foreign
cash machines and 7% is exchanged from sterling into foreign currency while on
resort.
The company estimates British holidaymakers will spend £7.8
billion this summer while on holiday, a 4% increase on last year.
