HILTON London Gatwick Airport general manager Christopher
Rawstron has been named young manager of the year by the British travel and
hospitality industry’s Hall of Fame.

was selected from a shortlist of six finalists to win the Omega Prize, which
this year was sponsored by the Evening Standard newspaper and Arthur D Little
management consultants.

At last
night’s Hall of Fame presentation in London, chairman Alun Cathcart said: “We
had a record number of candidates this year and the quality was extremely high.
It was a difficult decision.”
The other
finalists, who received £500 each, were: bmi british midland general manager
finance Tony Whitby; British Airways head of leisure Robin Hayes; Cedant Travel
Division EMEA managing director Markus Deutsch; Cresta Holidays deputy general
manager Jacqui Woodward and Holiday Autos group e-commerce director Mathew Hart.
Finalists
for the Omega Prize, which is awarded every year, must be 35 or younger to
qualify and their business has to be primarily based in the UK.
