AGENTS
have been accused of losing crucial sales by ignoring customers when they walk
through the door.
Startling
research conducted by First Choice revealed that 50% of agents–both
independents and multiples–are failing to even acknowledge potential
holidaymakers.
Revealing
the findings to 300 agents at the Advantage Travel centres conference in
Ireland, deputy managing director John Wimbleton said the lack of effort from
staff is driving customers away–and encouraging direct sales.
Wimbleton
later commented that his comments were not directed at Advatnage members but to
all agents.
Advantage
Travel Centres president Roger Smith said: “I think he has a point but many
agents don’t see themselves as sales people but advisors.”
