FORMER Going Places managing director Terry Fisher is
expected to return to the industry almost a year after leaving the Airtours
group.
Fisher was due to attend the Institute of Travel and Tourism
conference in Tenerife at the weekend and is believed to be weighing up several
opportunities. Sources close to Fisher said his time away from the industry has
renewed his appetite after a turbulent stint in charge of Going Places.
“It was a difficult period but Terry is keen to return in a
more entrepreneurial role than his previous job,” the source said.
“Terry and corporate life are not particularly well suited.”
He was expected to use the ITT conference to renew contacts
and put himself back on the market.
Fisher took extended sick leave from the middle of last year and was replaced
in December when UCI managing director Dave Harris took over.
He has spent much of the last year living at his villa in
Spain having earned between £7.7 million and £8.4 million from the sale of
Travelworld to Airtours in December 1998.
