JMC ponders ITC move after TV series uproar

JMC and Airtours are considering making an official
complaint to the Independent Television Commission about the controversial
television series Package Holiday 2001.

Both operators have criticised the programme for being
misrepresentative and sensationalist. The series has documented ant-infested
hotels, building work next to properties, brochure inaccuracies and resort
crime. JMC plans to speak to other operators at the end of the six-part
television series, currently running on ITV on Tuesday nights, to see if they
want to make a complaint.

The ITC said it had only received one complaint about the
programme. “If complainants think the series is inaccurate or unfair, then we
can investigate,” said a spokeswoman.
