Cathay Pacific
Stretched: Cathay’s business seat
Cathay Pacific has introduced a meeting area for passengers and a private dressing room in its new business-class cabins.
The cocktail bar and refreshment area will allow passengers to mingle during flights, while a private dressing room will have a full-length mirror, coat hooks and fold-down seats to allow passengers to change during their journey. The airline’s new business-class seats recline into a lounge-style chair with an incline of 13 degrees. Cathay said research showed that passengers sleep better when they are cradled in a lounger-style chair, rather than a completely flat bed.
The seats allow passengers to stretch to a maximum 6ft 3ins while the seat width is 20.5ins. Headrests are adjustable to six positions while there are four levels of lumbar support. Each seat is surrounded by a privacy ‘cocoon’ with an adjustable screen for extra privacy.
The cabins offer more personal storage space, coat hooks and a larger meal table, while a second table allows passengers to get up without having to put away laptops or snacks. USB data sockets allow connection to the in-flight e-mail and intranet service, which gives access to selected news, sports and entertainment sites. Noise-cancelling headsets and 10.4 inch personal television screens are also new.
