AGENTS should look at selling hotel passes to self-drive customers and rail passes to independent clients, to boost their service and commission levels, according to Jetset.
Head of marketing Roddie MacPhee said: “Hotel and travel passes are major earnings opportunities. They span the whole market, from motels right through to luxury hotels.
“Agents should stress the flexibility of rail passes, which let people travel by train, coach and ferry, on both North and South Islands. If agents offer these extras, customers think they are getting a better service.”
Hotel passes give clients the flexibility to stay where they like, for as long as they like.
New for 2000 is Jetset’s Mainstay Go Kiwi pass. Clients can choose from three categories of hotel: bronze at £20 per person per night (two-star properties), silver at £22 (three-star) and gold at £29 (three-star plus or four-star).
Properties are scattered across the country from Paihia at the top of North Island to Invercargill at the bottom of South Island.
Also new is the Millennium, Copthorne and Quality Pass, which offers four-and-a-half-star Millennium hotels from £33 per person per night; four-star Copthorne hotels from £27per person per night; and three-star Quality hotels from £21 per person per night.
For train, coach and ferry travel on both islands, Jetset recommends the Best of New Zealand Pass, which costs from £150, depending on duration.
