COSTA
Cruises is targeting the family market with a children-go-free offer on its
Christmas Canary Islands cruise.
Managing
director Paul Ellerby said he is trying to stimulate interest from families in
the UK. “We have always had the demand from families overseas but we
thought putting a larger ship, Victoria, on the voyage would create an ideal
opportunity to test the market here,” he said.
He
said there are already childrens clubs on board for three to 16-year-olds, but
they have never been promoted.
“Depending
on how well the offer is taken up we will try to promote Costa’s childrens
clubs through the brochures – it may feature in the 2002 programme, if it’s
successful,” Ellerby commented.
Prices lead in at £770 per person. Children up to
16-years-old cruise for free but pay £160 each to cover flights.
