Should he stay or should he go?

MYTRAVEL chairman David Crossland has admitted the
timing of his impending retirement is “not ideal” as City insiders urge him to
stay on.

Crossland revealed he had already
deferred his retirement date once because of the impact of September 11 on the
business. He refused to rule out deferring it a second time.

Analysts are keen to see Crossland continue at the
helm and steer the company through the current storm.

This follows MyTravel’s plunging shares and the City’s
loss of confidence in the group’s senior management after it issued a further
warning, taking £15 million off 2002 profits.

One senior analyst said: “Everybody is talking about
Crossland and it would be very well received if he stayed.”

Speaking exclusively to Travel Weekly, Crossland said:
“This year we will make more profits than all the players so I think it is a little
unreasonable for analysts to ask if I will stay.”
