TUI UK sells back Travel House shops

TravelWeekly.co.uk

TUI UK is selling 21 of its Travel House Group shops back
to former owner Martin Morgan and closing a “small number” of other
branches.

Most of the remaining 82 Travel House Group shops, including 10
Sibbald Travel branches and some Callers Pegasus agencies, will now
be re-branded Lunn Poly.

Shops to close are in areas where there is duplication or the
market is weak, said a spokeswoman.

TUI UK recently announced it would reduce the size of its shop
network as part of a cost-cutting review, which will see 800 jobs
go from other parts of the business.

The Travel House Group shops being sold are in areas where there
is duplication with existing Lunn Poly branches. Staff will be
transferred across to the new company under Morgan.

The move has also prompted Travel House Group head of retail Rob
Young to leave TUI UK to work for Morgan.

TUI UK sales and marketing director Miles Morgan said the
consolidation was to ensure the business was run as efficiently as
possible.

“From a sales and marketing point of view it makes sense to
market under fewer brands if we can,” he added.
