Sales lift for United Co-op Travel Group

UNITED Co-op Travel Group saw sales increase 12% to
£496.2 million for the 12 months to the end of January
2005.

The group did not reveal its profits but general manager Mike
Greenacre said it made “a significant contribution” to
its parent company’s £50 million profit. The 97-strong
retail division saw sales rise by an average of 8% following the
start of a shop facelift programme.

Two-thirds of shops have already been refitted and the move will be
extended to a further 15 shops this year.

Homeworking operation Future Travel become the group’s
largest trading division last year accounting for more than 35% of
sales, and profits up a record 28% on the previous year.
