Module 6: Dining Out, Nightlife, Culture and Special Events

In this module you will learn all about Caymanian cuisine and culture. Here are some suggestions to whet your customers’ appetite:

  • Visitors in search of the authentic Caymanian culinary experience have plenty of options. For example, at day’s end they could sit down in a tropical restaurant garden beneath the stars to a meal of callaloo (similar to spinach), followed by mango chicken, or a seafood combo of lobster and turtle.
  • To greet the day in true Caymanian style, visitors should head down to one of the breakfast cafes on George Town’s Eastern Avenue and discover the delights of ackee, codfish, green bananas and callaloo. Bacon and eggs may never seem quite the same again!
  • Sunday brunch at the top hotels is unmissable for superb food and buck’s fizz. Reservations are essential.
  • And finally, people in the Cayman Islands tend to eat early. So, if you book a table for after 9.00pm, you could well end up having the entire restaurant to yourself.
