Travel Weekly Globe Awards 2006

WITH a bewildering number of travel awards ceremonies celebrating an increasingly esoteric range of achievements, it can be hard to know which mean the most, and whether the others mean anything at all.

We’d say the Travel Weekly Globe Awards are the industry standard, but of course, we’re biased. Unlike you. And it’s thanks to your impartial opinion that we can afford to say our awards are the best. Because our awards are voted by travel agents – the very people who are dealing with the operators, airlines, hotels and technology providers on a day-to-day basis – the travel industry knows that a Globe is something to be proud of.

This is the 29th year of our awards, and when the big night comes around, it will be the culmination of a process that began back in September with your first round voting forms. Now is the time to decide from the shortlist who really deserves to win – make your voice heard with the voting form in the centre spread. The closing date is December 5.

An overwhelming number of you voted last year, so we’re especially glad to have industry analyst AC Neilson on our side once again to help count the votes. We’re also please to be welcoming back Associated Newspapers as a sponsor. Thanks to the success of the first People’s Poll last year, Associated will once again be rewarding operators in six categories, voted for exclusively by the readers of the Associated stable of papers.

Of course, we’re not asking for your attention without any promise of reward. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, there are several holidays up for grabs in our great prize draw, courtesy of Seligo. Also look out in this guide for your chance to win breaks from Thomas Cook.

We hope this guide helps jars memories of the last 12 months and gets you in the mood for a great night out.
