Three quarters of travellers making Christmas holiday bookings will do so via the Internet, according to a survey by Worldhotels, the group of independent hotels.
The survey of more than 500 subscribers to Worldhotel’s news letter also found that 46% were looking for culture and sight seeing in the Christmas breaks, while 69% decide on a location, and then look for a holiday to fit their budget.
While 75% booked online, only 8% booked via a travel agent and 2% booked direct with tour operators.
However, the influence of the Internet was still minor in terms of sharing holiday experiences. Only 9% said they would share their experiences with online forums, while 51% said they would make recommendations to friends.
