Expedia expands corporate arm into Germany – 16 Nov 2006

Expedia Corporate Travel has announced it has agreed to buy full-service corporate travel provider for the German travel market MTM Reisen.

The deal sees the online retailer move into the German market for the first time and the company says it underlined its commitment to the European market, allowing it to provide an improved service to German business travelers and companies who do business in Germany.

MTM Reisen will be Expedia Corporate Travel’s fourth European acquisition, following the launch of offices in the UK, France and Belgium, part of a major expansion in the European market.

President of Expedia Corporate Travel Jean-Pierre Remy said: “While we continue to grow Expedia Corporate Travel’s global presence, ensuring we service each new market’s unique needs is paramount.

“MTM Reisen’s local market knowledge and service expertise combined with Expedia’s award-winning technology will enable us to better serve travellers in a country that represents one of the largest corporate travel markets in Europe.”

Company founder Helmut Rainalter added: “Expedia Corporate Travel is a perfect fit enabling MTM Reisen to offer clients leading online booking and reporting tools as well as global corporate travel support.”
