Medhotels is revamping its travel agent website to work more closely with the trade.
From next week the accommodation-only company’s website Medhotels.com will include a tool for agents to mark up prices as well as an agent log-in and improved search criteria to allow agents to search by resort and island.
Group trade director Carl Burrows said: “The website will be tailored to agents and there will be better rates available for trade partners. They will be able to earn commission or use the tool and define what margin you want.”
Holiday searches will be more useful for agents with quick searches showing all hotels, for example, in a list rather than showing photographs of each one.
The company also plans to put messages on its website which look like hand-written notes to promote trade offers or specific messages to agents in a more friendly fashion.
The company will also be heavily promoting its branded in resort reps to the trade.
“It’s not something we have sung and danced about but we want agents to know when they book there is someone in resort to meet them. It’s hard to get that message out.”
Meanwhile, Medhotels has yet to make a decision on whether it will take on the responsibilities of a principal following the recent tragedy in Corfu, in which two children died. Rivals have already announced they are to make the switch.
