Exodus sees dramatic increase in Nepal bookings – 1 Dec 2006

Adventure travel operator Exodus has seen a dramatic increase in booking to Nepal after the Peace Accord was reached between the government of Nepal and the country’s Maoist rebels in November.

Peter Burrell, produce and operations director at Exodus said: “Exodus is thrilled that the government of Nepal and the Maoist have ended their conflict after a decade of civil war.

We have managed to operate in Nepal almost continuously through the troubles but are now confident that this piece agreement has put Nepal back where it belongs as one of the iconic destinations on the adventurous tourist map.

“Our rise in bookings is an encouraging sign that there is undoubtedly a huge pent-up demand to visit this beautiful country and particularly the classic Himalayan treks such as Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Sanctuary – both of which are now seeing an increase in bookings.”

Exodus operates in 90 countries with more than 500 tours including walking, trekking, cycling, mountain biking, rafting, kayaking, caving, skiing and dog sledding.
