First Choice apologises for cancelled Lapland flight- 5 Dec 2006

First Choice has apologised to disappointed families after a flight to Lapland to see Santa Claus was cancelled.

According to press reports police had to be called to Cardiff Airport on Sunday after some parents were left angered when they were told the flight would not be taking off due to technical fault with the aircraft.

A spokesman for First Choice said: “First Choice would like to apologise to those customers from Cardiff, who were unable to make the scheduled trip to Lapland.

“As I am sure you appreciate, safety has to be our number one priority and unfortunately a technical problem with the aircraft involved, meant that we were unable to operate the flight as planned.

“The company did look at arranging a substitute flight, but the nature of a day trip, means that by the time this had been arranged, customers would have had very little time in Lapland, before returning home.”

First Choice has contacted customers to offer them an alternative flight to Lapland this Saturday or a full refund.
