Let’s Go founder to build £10m Devon hotel – 6 Dec 2006

Let’s Go Travel founder and former owner Simon Maunder is building a hotel as part of a £10 million development aimed at cashing in on domestic tourism.

He said the hotel will be built at Richmond Dock, which will be converted into a marina as part of the development, near Bideford in Devon and will have around 35 rooms on completion in 12 to 18 months’ time.

He said: “I’ve always done property work on the side and converted hotels in the past but when this dock came along and following the sale of Let’s Go, I had more time to do bigger projects and felt I could take it on.

“I also think low cost flights are no longer as low cost as they were and with the breaking up of traditional two week holidays, people are taking more short breaks domestically.”

Maunder added once the hotel is completed, he will be driving sales through the trade.
