Hays Travel is “actively looking” to expand its high-street shop network.
Managing director John Hays said the 32-shop chain would add a further four branches this year.
He added: “There are still gaps to fill in the northeast and we see opportunities for solid but unspectacular growth.”
He stressed there were no plans at this stage to expand outside the northeast.
“We have got a very strong brand name and it would be harder to move geographically. We are not ruling out other areas but we have not yet saturated the northeast.
“When we advertise in the local press we can cover 32 shops at once.”
Sales at the shop chain for the first two weeks of February were 15% up, with passenger numbers 10% up.
Sales across the group, including the Independence Group and homeworkers, were 21% up for the same period.
