Advantage in phone mix-up

FURIOUS Advantage travel agents in Scotland have deracked several leading operators’ brochures after discovering that the phone numbers on the back only distribute calls to Airtours franchise members.

Hamilton-based Stepek Travel general manager Gerry McPhillips said seven non-franchisees will write to the operators, which include Cresta, Premier, Belleair, Superbreaks and Travel 2/Travel 4, to protest.

“We have been stocking their brochures but clients can’t call us because we are not members of the Airtours franchise,” said McPhillips.

Advantage managing director Ron Muir said a genuine mistake had been made by the company that operates the phone system and the problem would be rectified as soon as possible.
