Midconsort Elite has this week started testing its dynamic packaging system Elite Desktop.
Originally due to be launched in January, the system has been rolled out to Carrick Travel and “one or two other members that are likely to be using the system a lot”.
General manager Paul Cowley said it was due to be tested for three weeks before being rolled out to the wider membership.
“I want to make sure it works without a problem before I switch it on for all members,” Cowley said.
Elite Desktop system uses the Findandbook system, operated by Thomas Cook-owned Flexibletrips. It incorporates viewdata, accommodation-only firms, global distribution content and 35 no-frills carriers.
Cowley said he wants to reduce the consortium’s 120 preferred suppliers, which include 17 accommodation-only companies, to a ‘more realistic seven’.
