ATOL consultation launches today – 2 April 2007

The Department for Transport has this morning launched its consultation on reform of ATOL bonding and replenishment of the Air Travel Trust Fund.

The on-line consultation is divided into three parts with the first outlining the options for reform and includes the option of the £1 levy on passengers.

Not only does the consultation invite feedback on the possibilities but members of the public are invited to comment on the amount of the levy.

The second section of the document invites comment on the regulations needed to effect any changes while the third reviews the transition needed to implement any change and includes specific questions to be answered.

The deadline for any responses to the paper, which can be found at http://www.dft.gov.uk/consultations/open/atol/consultationapp1and2 , is June 29, 2007.
