Amadeus has widened the choice of accommodation options available to agents over the last eight months by adding 5,000 more hotels to its distribution system, including 2,000 small, independent or budget hotels.
Amadeus Hospitality Business Group managing director Antoine Medawar said the move to include more independent and low-end options was due to an increase in demand.
Amadeus, which now features 75,000 hotels, is also working on a Best Available Rate programme that will give agents increased rate transparency when booking accommodation.
