SWEDEN and Denmark are celebrating the forthcoming opening of a new crossing between their two countries – a suspension bridge and an underwater tunnel, joined in the middle by an artificial island. The Oresund Fixed Link, which opens in July 2000, will reduce journey time between Malmo and Copenhagen to 20mins. Flagging up the new links are BarbroHunter-McAusland of the Swedish Travel and Tourism Council and Henrik Kahn of the Danish Tourist Board.
