The future of hotel development in London is the focus of a new exhibition at New London Architecture.
Visit London chief executive James Bidwell is today opening Away From Home, which also reflects on the growth of hotel development.
The latest London Hotel Development Monitor, published by Visit London, shows that London is set for a period of sustained growth in hotel development. Some 50,000 new rooms are expected to be needed in London by 2026, according to the study.
“London is booming,” said Bidwell. “We are the number one city destination for international travel with 2006 a record year for overseas visitors to the capital.
“We are about to kick off a season of US sport with American hockey, basketball and football all staging games in the capital. The football game is the first time a season NFL game has been played outside of the Americas and this event alone is expected to bring more than 10,000 visitors to the capital.”
